A second rise in a row
The MASI gained 557.58 points, after its 2.25% rise on Wednesday. Since Tuesday’s close (16,390.89 points), it has gained 5.66%, by our calculation. Early in the session, Boursenews pointed to the rebound in world markets after the US midterm elections. This link is a press reading: the official page does not give a cause for the move.
The MASI ESG rose 3.01% to 1,324.58 points, and the MASI Mid and Small Cap rose 2.88% to 1,623.71 points. By our count of the official table, 58 of 81 stocks rose and 5 fell. The other 18 were unchanged, not traded or suspended.
Market capitalisation moved above 1,000 billion dirhams, from about 984.73 billion the day before, or +3.17% by our calculation.
A 500 million block in Managem
The official transactions page shows one block trade in shares: 316,455 Managem shares at 1,580 dirhams, or about 500 million dirhams by our calculation. This price is above Managem’s closing price (1,489 dirhams, +3.40%). The page does not name the buyer or the seller, and we found no source that does.
The central order book totals about 502.41 million dirhams, by our addition of the official table. About 11.67 million remains outside the central order book and the block; the page also lists off-book trades.
The highest volumes on the central order book were Douja Prom Addoha (59.97 million dirhams), TGCC (53.60 million), Managem (39.30 million) and Sodep-Marsa Maroc (33.63 million). Together, they make up about 37% of this order book, by our calculation.

To understand this better
- Market capitalisation is the total value of all listed shares at the day’s prices. It moves with prices: it is not money that has entered the market.
- A block is a large package of shares traded apart from the central order book. Its price can differ from the closing price, as it did here. This is why total volume is best read with blocks counted separately.
- “Since the start of the year” compares today’s level with the end of December. Despite two sessions of gains, the MASI is still down 8.11% for the year. These rises describe the past and say nothing about what comes next.
