A broad rise
The MASI gained 369.44 points and moved back above its Monday close (16,517.12 points). According to Boursenews, this rebound follows five straight sessions of decline. The news site links it to large companies and to interest in mining stocks, helped by higher precious metal prices.
The MASI ESG rose 2.29% to 1,285.84 points, and the MASI Mid and Small Cap rose 1.24% to 1,578.24 points. By our count of the official table, 47 of 81 stocks rose and 18 fell. The other 16 were unchanged, not traded or suspended.
Mining led the sectors
The mining index rose the most (+4.91%), ahead of holding companies (+4.36%) and distributors (+4.15%). The transport index fell the most (−4.00%, like CTM), ahead of beverages (−0.54%) and financing companies (−0.24%).
Managem gained 5.11% to 1,440 dirhams, after falling 8.05% the day before. Minière Touissit rose 4.17% to 3,750 dirhams, and SMI rose 2.86% to 5,000 dirhams.
Volume without block trades
Total volume was far below Tuesday’s (about 1.65 billion dirhams), but that session included about 1.35 billion in block trades. Excluding blocks, the central order book had traded 305.14 million on Tuesday. This Wednesday, the official page shows no block or off-book trades in shares.
The largest volumes on the central order book were AtlantaSanad (35.93 million dirhams), CMGP Group (33.76 million), Douja Prom Addoha (26.76 million) and Sodep-Marsa Maroc (24.26 million). Together, these four stocks make up about 37% of total volume, by our calculation.

To understand this better
- “Since the start of the year” compares today’s level with the level at the end of December. The MASI gained 2.25% in the session but is still down 11.07% over the year.
- The block market is used to trade large packages of shares, separately from the central order book. So comparing two total volumes only makes sense if you look at the share of block trades.
- A rebound is a rise after a fall. It describes the past and says nothing about what comes next.
